Having a page on a group website sounds like a great idea but several of the potters already on the website have found it harder to come up with the contents of
their webpages than they initially expected. It can be difficult to write about yourself and your art. For many people, the part of the brain that writes down thoughts is much harder to work with than the part of
the brain that verbalizes thoughts.
Knowing that....a trick that makes it easier to come up with text is to speak into a tape recorder those things you would like to say on your webpage then type it
up and edit it. Once typed up, you can flesh it out further, move parts around and use it as a framework to build upon.
Or with a tape recorder running, show pictures of your pottery to a friend, explain what the pieces are, how the pieces were made, etc. Transcribe the recording and
use that as a basis for your text.
A friend can brag about your pottery in a way you can't and they may use words more expressive of your pottery's beauty so you might have a friend edit and add to
what you come up with.
As soon as your webpage is uploaded onto the website, you'll need to proofread it carefully and make corrections right away. It will be a close interaction
between you and the webmaster until your webpage is exactly how you want it.
